In my previous post I mentioned our upcoming luncheon with the Hawaii Chapter of the International Association of Broadcast Communicators. Today was the day and I thought, why not make it the Rough Take Podcast #14. Peter Kay hosted and participated on the panel consisting of Roxanne Darling, Ryan Ozawa and me, along with a whole lot of portable technology that amazingly all worked. So in its entirety, here is the IABC luncheon on Blogging and Podcasting. Enjoy!Click here to listen to the podcast

I just listened to the podcast and have a few comments. By the way, thanks a lot for mentioning my blog at the event.
First, contrary to what Peter (I think that was his voice) said, I am not on the UH Poli Sci faculty. I'm twice an alumnus of the department (BA and MA), but not on the faculty. That's a small quibble, but I prefer that my blog be known for what I say rather than who I am.
Second, it seems unlikely to me that anyone who attended the talk and truly didn't already know what a blog was should hardly be considered a "communications professional."
Third, the Bob Lutz exception aside, the whole notion of a "corporate" blog is hard to imagine. An RSS feed of Hawaiian Telecom press releases? Oh boy, sign me up. Not. Blogs address a niche audience, sure, but for all but a handful of the biggest Hawaii businesses I would say that their audience would be so vanishingly small as to make the effort hard to justify. Unless the corporate blogger is a vanity-obsessed geek and simply likes to write and doesn't really care if 50 people or 5000 people read it---not that I know any bloggers like that, ha ha.
Mahalo nui for recording the event and posting it here. How big was the turnout and what other kind of feedback have you had? Did any of those attending tell you that they intend to start blogging?
