A lot of stuff has been happening in spite of my delinquency in posting or perhaps it has contributed to my infrequent posts. One event that came and went was the annual Hawaii Telecommunications Assoc. (HTCA) conference. It was a one day conference with speakers from a wide sampling of activities happening in and around Hawaii. One of which was a talk by John Savageau on the topic of Telecom Hotels. He manages a 600,000 sq. ft. facility in Los Angeles called One Wilshire. We do not have anything anywhere near in comparison but his connection to Hawaii is the Equinix data center near the Airport on Koapaka. Formerly known as Pihana, it was one of the many data centers John designed and built back in 2000. I didn't have to do much arm twisting to convince him to come back to Hawaii and speak at the HTCA conference. His talk will eventually get posted on the HTCA blog as soon as I get around to it.Another speaker at the conference was local favorite Todd Ogasawara. Todd seems to be making the local rounds which I am quite glad of. He reprised his talk on the Attention Economy during the keynote at lunch. I heard people mention that they enjoyed his talk because it made them think. For a conference organizer, that's mission accomplished. I have that talk recorded also and will post it soon.
